Some do not identify with a specific gender, or simply feel they are born in the wrong body. We are put in boxes created by our societies' norms, in which we're all expected to find our place. We learn our 'appropriate' gender roles from a young age and grow up with certain expectations of how we're supposed to look and behave according to the gender ascribed to us at birth. However, some of us do not identify with those gender roles and are left feeling trapped in hetero- and/or cisnormative boxes. Now, imagine having to face threats, violence, and countless obstacles in order to break out of these boxes. That's the reality of far too many transgender people in the world today.
"No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us." - Marsha P. Johnson
