Making dreams a reality in South Africa
The people of Bloempoort (South Africa) have had to deal with a variety of difficulties within its community for a long time. Crime, poverty, and health issues largely affect the everyday life of these inhabitants, and the coronavirus has not made their situation any easier. In 2017, Noor traveled to Bloempoort and met with Godfrey. Together they set out to improve the community’s living conditions by approaching yet another important issue: creating equal opportunities for boys and girls. They created the village's first soccer team for girls. Their work marked amazing progress for girls’ rights to self-determination; opening up a whole new door for them. The girls’ soccer team is still playing today, and they continue making progress.
